Officials from a number of UW System campuses say they are working within the rules of the university when choosing whether to provide segregated fee funding for student groups.

The announcement of a collaborative doctoral degree program between UW-Milwaukee and the Medical College of Wisconsin should not eliminate the possibility of a separate UW-Milwaukee school of public health.
"Wiley to donate pay raises," Badger Herald, Aug. 8.
UW-Madison Chancellor John Wiley said nationwide salary inflation and the public's perception of the university led him to donate any salary increases he receives back to the university.
"UWMC eager for expansion," Wausau Daily Herald, Aug. 9.
UW-Marathon County Dean Jim Veninga said although federal money is already secured for a number of renovations for the school, costs go up as time goes on; the county itself will soon decide whether to fund a portion of the project.
"UW names interim director of Institutes for Discovery," Associated Press, Aug. 8.
Waisman Center Director Marsha Malick Seltzer will serve as interim director of the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery.
"UW-Whitewater football coach plans to step down after 2006 season," Janesville Gazette, Aug. 9.
UW-Whitewater head football coach Bob Berezowitz, who last season led the Warhawks to the NCAA Division III national championship game, announced that this will be his last year as coach.
"UWSP dance team, cheerleaders, mascots suspended pending investigation," Stevens Point Journal, Aug. 9.
UW-Stevens Point suspended its dance team, cheerleaders and mascot after pictures appeared on the Internet displaying possible hazing and underage drinking, both of which would violate university policy.
"UW-Madison opens probe into sexual harassment claims at plant," Associated Press, Aug. 8.
UW-Madison officials made it clear that the university does not tolerate harassment of or by its employees, and said it will investigate claims of such made by a power plant worker.
