UW-Madison Chancellor John Wiley said as science continues to change, the state must be innovative in creating the environments where scientific research takes place; the campus is considering Stanford University's James H. Clark Center as a model for the soon-to-be-constructed Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery.

Citing a great relationship with the city of La Crosse and its UW campus, Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletics Association officials said they plan to keep its state Track and Field Championships in the city until at least 2009.

A trial is set to begin today in Milwaukee for a state worker accused of wrongdoing as chair of a committee that evaluated potential state and university travel contracts.
