Commencement speakers urged UW-Milwaukee's graduating class to focus on global awareness and diversity as they move on to begin careers in the "real world."

Graduates from UW-Stevens Point said they felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment crossing the stage and receiving their diplomas.

UW System officials said they chose the Witt/Kieffer firm to assist the Search and Screen Committee in selecting a replacement for departing UW-La Crosse Chancellor Doug Hastad based on its experience with chancellor searches at six other UW System campuses.

Michael Falk, a research meteorologist at UW-Milwaukee, took home the quarter-million-dollar jackpot from the Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions; Falk had already earned nearly $60,000 during a four-day run as champion earlier in the year.
State

An editorial urging lawmakers not to force UW System and Wisconsin Technical College System students to shoulder the cost of allowing the state's veterans to attend the public campuses at no charge.

After a series of forums at UW-River Falls to assess the region's governmental needs, the Western Wisconsin Intergovernmental Collaborative was created to be a resource to the area's local governments.
