A number of higher education and business officials note the importance of investing in Wisconsin's colleges and universities to improve the state's economy, saying research performed on campus ultimately leads to many economic benefits for Wisconsin.

A new agreement will allow certain Waukesha County Technical College business students to finish their four-year degrees at UW-Milwaukee.

A new observatory on the UW-River Falls campus will allow educators and members of the public to get a closer look at objects in space.
State
"Assembly passes version of government spending limits," Associated Press, April 28.
In a close vote, legislators passed an altered version of the proposed Taxpayer Protection Amendment, a bill to limit government spending that the Board of Regents has said could deal a serious blow to the quality of public higher education.

UW-Extension plays a key role in setting the "Smart Growth" agenda for Iron County, including plans for economic development and intergovernmental cooperation.
"Inventors and entrepreneurs forming clubs," Rhinelander Daily News, April 27.
A number of experts from the UW System were on-hand at a forum to discuss ways entrepreneurs and inventors can experience success through collaboration.

A UW-Milwaukee case shows that some universities are finding challenges in precisely how to assess students' digital dissertations, a relatively new phenomenon in higher education.
