UW System Regent Tom Loftus says the UW is one of Wisconsin's greatest assets, but he finds the relationship between the UW and the state Legislature troubling.

The Senate Committee on Higher Education and Tourism passed the nomination of Brent Smith of La Crosse to the Board of Regents, as well as the nominations of Jeffrey Bartell and Thomas Shields.

UW-Parkside students celebrated Earth Day by purchasing a pollution credit for 2,000 pounds of sulfur dioxide, seeking emissions reductions by 2013.
