The UW System Board of Regents approved plans to construct the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery on the UW-Madison campus.

Per the rules of the UW System, the Board of Regents dismissed UW-Madison professor Lewis Keith Cohen after he was convicted of a felony; another professor, Steven Clark, has submitted his resignation.

UW System officials announced the allocation of $500,000 in state funding earmarked to increase the number of baccalaureate degree-holders in Wisconsin.

The UW-Madison Academic Staff Appeals Committee will hear arguments from Paul Barrows and the university in the appeal of a disciplinary case.

The Associated Students of Madison threw out the results of two referenda after a number of electronic ballots were not accounted for.

Despite UW-Madison's reputation for being a "party school," many students on campus choose to abstain from drugs and alcohol, and there are several places, including a substance-free residence hall floor, which cater to such students.

The state nullified part of a procurement contract with Silver Oak Solutions after a number of state agencies claimed the deal would not save them the amount of money the Department of Administration had originally estimated.
