An initial report released by a steering group studying the educational needs of the Waukesha area identified several ways to increase student access to educational opportunities and to broaden the area's research capacity.

UW-Milwaukee Chancellor Carlos Santiago said a $10 million donation for the campus's business school is "transformational."

The dean of UW-Fond du Lac said the largest cut to federal financial aid programs in history could seriously hinder educational opportunities for current and prospective students.

State

State legislators call for a look at the costs and functions of some state and university information technology programs.

"Panel considers using state funds to preserve farmland," Wausau Daily Herald, Feb. 5.

UW-Extension officials said the preservation of farmland in Marathon County would be a positive strategic decision for the state.
