"Chancellor a ‘calling’," Eau Claire Leader-Telegram, Jan. 25.
In a visit to UW-Eau Claire, where he is a finalist for chancellor, UW-Fox Valley Dean and CEO Jim Perry said, if selected as chancellor, he would turn the campus into the preeminent comprehensive university in the Midwest.
"UW-Fox Valley gets biggest stage with innovation," Editorial, Oshkosh Northwestern, Jan. 24.
An editorial encouraging UW-Fox Valley officials to use "innovation" to lower the cost of building its proposed communication arts center.
"Barrows' lawsuit dismissed ," Associated Press, Jan. 25.
A U.S. District judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by UW-Madison administrator Paul Barrows, who he said failed to show that placement in a so-called "back-up position" was entitled under state law.
"Textbook rental saves UW-La Crosse students serious cash," La Crosse Tribune, Jan. 25.
UW-La Crosse's textbook rental program, which charges students $76 per semester to rent textbooks, is a hit with students and university officials alike.
"Stop the War accuses University, federal gov’t of spying on campus anti-war activity," Daily Cardinal, Jan. 25.
UW-Madison officials said Chancellor John Wiley participates in the FBI National Security Higher Education Advisory Board in order to gain a better understanding of a wide range of issues.
"College move mid-year makes sense for some," La Crosse Tribune, Jan. 25.
UW-La Crosse officials say some students transfer to that campus to enroll in a specific program, while others simply were not pleased with the campus they previously attended.
State
"Revenue controls are latest attempt to curb taxes," Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Jan. 25.
Some Wisconsin legislators are considering plans to introduce legislation that would address revenue controls on state and local governments.
