Last updated September 10, 2009
Background
The Chapters UWS 17 and 18 Review Committee was charged with recommending revisions to the UW System's administrative rules governing student nonacademic disciplinary procedures and conduct on university lands.
The goals of this process were to update, clarify, and improve the organization of Chapters UWS 17 and 18, Wis. Admin. Code.
- Chapter UWS 17: Student Nonacademic Disciplinary Procedures describes standards and procedures for addressing students' nonacademic misconduct.
- Chapter UWS 18: Conduct on University Lands pertains to students and non-students alike and regulates various types of conduct on university land, such as operating motor vehicles, parking, riding bicycles, and selling goods and services.
Public Comment
The committee invited students, university staff, and the public to offer specific comments on the committee's recommended revisions of Chapters 17 and 18 of the UW System’s administrative rules. This comment period was from February 25 through March 11, 2008. The committee carefully considered the feedback it received and prepared draft rules for the Board of Regents' review at the Board's October 2008 meeting. An additional opportunity for comment occurred at a Board of Regents' public hearing on March 5, 2009, with written comments accepted until March 13, 2009.
