Course Evaluation Process Transfer of WTCS General Education Core Courses Transfer of WTCS Early Childhood Education Courses Transfer of Other WTCS Occupational/Technical Courses Transfer of WTCS General Education Core CoursesUnder the UWS Transfer Policy (ACIS 6.0), students may transfer up to 30 credits in general education courses (social/behavioral sciences, communications, mathematics, and natural sciences) offered in WTCS applied associate degree programs. In 2004, UW institutions reviewed two sets of WTCS general education core courses and made equivalency determinations. The course information for these courses is posted on the WTCS website at http://systemattic.wtcsystem.edu/Instruction/transfer/ In fall 2007, WTCS districts will begin to offer 14 additional applied associate degree general education courses in the areas of social/behavioral sciences, communications, mathematics, and natural sciences.
These are primarily new courses with WTC systemwide student learning outcomes and curriculum.
The same curriculum is offered by all 16 technical colleges so UW institutions only need to evaluate the courses once and then apply any articulation and transfer agreements to all WTCS districts. The WTCS course information available to assist institutions in the evaluation, including course outcome summaries and sample syllabi, is posted on the WTCS website at http://systemattic.wtcsystem.edu/Instruction/transfer/ Review Process - UW institutions will follow their customary processes to determine transferability and applicability of the WTCS courses. If the faculty/staff reviewing the course(s) have additional questions, the WTCS course materials include contact information. As the transfer determinations are made, institutions will post them on the Preliminary Equivalency Matrix, which provides a mechanism for UW's to share initial determinations. Once UW institutions finalize the transfer decisions, they will post them on TIS. Transfer of WTCS Early Childhood Education CoursesIn fall of 2006, WTCS districts began to offer the new systemwide curriculum in Early Childhood Education. The same curriculum is offered by all 16 technical colleges so UW institutions only need to evaluate the curriculum once and then apply any articulation and transfer agreements to all WTCS districts. Transfer of Other WTCS Occupational/Technical CoursesUnder the UWS Transfer Policy (ACIS 6.0), UW institutions may accept in transfer occupational/technical courses offered in WTCS applied associate degree programs when the courses are determined to be equivalent or comparable to courses in their curriculum. UW institutions review the courses on a case by case basis. WTCS districts and UW institutions are encouraged to work with their regional partners to initiate the review of these courses. Once UW institutions finalize the transfer decisions, they are posted in the Transfer Information System (TIS).
